Corrosion Prevention in Water Fall Paint Spray Booth

Q. I have a metal open tank corstructed of mild steel, I intend to use it as a holding tank for a pond waterfall. I want to coat the inside with something that will prevent rust and stand up to water.

A. To prevent corrosion I suggest that you first abrasive blast the steel holding tank to a near-white finish and then apply a corrosion resistant epoxy primer followed by two coats of an epoxy topcoat. Companies such as Carboline, Sherwin Williams, Ameron, PPG, Hempel, etc. supply these coatings.

Please follow the vendor's mixing and application instructions.
