Heating CARC Paint
Q. We have aluminum fuel tanks which have been CARC painted and they are inside
of wood shipping containers which need to be 'baked' for pest control in the
wood (due to export regulations). Will the CARC paint be affected by the wood
box being heated (212 °F). This is a closed container. I doubt that the CARC paint will be affected by the wood, especially if the
CARC has already been fully cured. Of-course, you can test it and send a sample
to the Army Research Labs at Aberdeen Proving Grounds for confirmation.
I am working with ARL on the new Water Dispersible CARC which the Army is in
the process of introducing, and would like to know if your results are contrary
to my expectations; namely that the CARC will not be affected?
Please don't hesitate to get back to me again on this.
Best wishes,
Ron Joseph
