Paint for High Friction

Q: Do you have a suggestion for a coating for a high friction grip contact between flanges that will be submersed in seawater? Many Thanks

A: I don't have an immediate suggestion. Since you are obviously looking for structural integrity of the friction surface, you would need to cconduct tests to verify that the coating system will work. The problem is that if the coating degrades while immersed in water, it might shrink and lessen the friction between the flanges. Even if the flanges were only exposed to air, many specifiers would not take a chance and apply a friction coating.

The company for which I work is able to conduct such tests and oif you wish to pursue this please get back to me.

Regards,

Ron Joseph
