Removing Stain in Painted Surface

Q. I have a Formula boat painted AQUABLUE IMRON HULL. Fuel expanded in my tanks staining the hull. I removed most with acetone. There is still some residue. How can I clean this? The fuel was on there for 4 days.

A. I don't know offhand what other solvent you can use that will remove the stain. You might need to buff it off using a buffing wheel and a very fine liquid abrasive. Alternatively you might need to try using 600 mesh steel wire, or the finest that you can find in a hardware store. Be careful not to buff in such a way as to blend the buffed area with the surrounding area.

Best wishes,
