Ask the Expert Question-and-Answer Archive by Ron Joseph July, 2004 Intumescent Paint for Aircrafts Q. I'm searching for a supplier of an intumescent paint suggested to be used on our aircraft. I have been given 2 order #'s but, am having no luck finding a supplier in the US. I am also not finding a comparable order #, mill or alternate # for this product. A. I would start with a search of paint and coating manufacturers who supply the air craft industries particularly the military community. There is a trend initiated by the DOD to use commercial products rather than military specifications. I hope we have helped with your problem. Best regards,
