Painting Steel Siding

Q. My steel siding is faded bad, I think it might be 20 years old. I want to paint over the steel siding, what is involved in this?

A. The most important step to refinishing pre-painted steel is to prep and clean the surface with high pressure washing and a heavy duty detergent designated for good removal of accumulated dirt and oxide. After cleaning select a good quality acrylic latex topcoat.

I recall a couple of jobs of repainting pre-coated steel, both of which resulted with excellent performances.

Best Regards,
