Pollution Prevention, P2 Ideas

The Joint Service P2 Opportunity Handbook was designed to identify available "off-the-shelf " pollution prevention (P2) technologies, management practices, and process changes that will reduce the amount of hazardous waste and solid waste being generated.

• Painting. Identifies source reduction methods (e.g., waterborne paints, powder coating) and equipment changes (e.g., HVLP).

• Depainting. Identifies alternatives to solvent-based depainting chemicals, including mechanical methods.

• Solvent Alternatives. Identifies alternatives to chlorinated solvent cleaning.

• Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Management. Identifies management and equipment solutions that reduce waste generation.
