Solvent Resistance of Polyurethane

Q. What effect would xylene (xylol) have on an aged urethane pedestrian system if the Xylene was left on the surface too long?

A. To answer your question more accurately I would need to know more about the polyurethane, whether it is single or two-component, etc., whether it is based on a polyester or acrylic polyol, and more. My generic

answer is that long term direct exposure to xylene (xylol) might soften the coating.

Best wishes,

Ron Joseph
