Vinyl Emulsion Paint vs. an Acrylic Emulsion Paint

Q. What is the difference in a vinyl emulsion paint and an acrylic emulsion paint? Which has better properties?

A. The vinyl latex emulsion paints were the first water based trade sales products on the market. As the demand for improvements grew, the simple vinyl latex paints were modified to give the end user a better product; better washability, harder abrasion resistance film and improved color retention.

Most of the improvements are achieved with an acrylic modification. More expensive but better durability and wear resistance. Acrylic over straight vinyl by at least 50%.
