Plexiglass Cleaning/Restoration

Q. I would like to know how to restore the plexiglass wind shield on my boat, it is old and scratched. Can I restore or should i just replace?

A. I'm not an expert on Plexiglas, but in my opinion you might need to send the windshield out for polishing. Since Plexiglas scratches easily, you might need to use very fine abrasives to restore the finish. Have you gone to a windshield restoration store in your neighborhood to see if this is feasible?

Whatever you do, please do NOT use paints or solvents on the Plexiglas since solvents will drastically affect the finish.
