Percent Weight Solids Test

Q: I'm wondering if you could recommend a suitable Lab for weight solids analysis to be performed.  We are a small Automotive Painter located in Northern Ontario, Canada and are having issues with excessive transfer efficiencies and would like to have our adhesion promoter examined appropriately. I've been onto your web-site and have found two labs, and am looking for something a little closer! Also, if you could recommend an appropriate test specification that would be very helpful!

A: I don't know of any labs in Ontario, or even in all of Canada, but quite honestly this is a simple test that can be performed by any analytical lab, not necessarily a paint lab. The appropriate test is ASTM D2369 and you can download it from the ASTM web site (for a small fee.)

Ron Joseph
