VOC of Floor and Deck Paint

Q. If the VOC is listed as 380 is that considered High figure for Floor and Deck non-flat paint.

Is it better to have a low figure or high figure when looking at the VOC numbers?

A. A VOC value of 380 g/L (3.2 lbs/gal) is considered to be in the correct ball park as far as VOC figures go, but I can't tell you if it is legal or illegal unless I see your state regulation that covers the floor and deck paints.

We are always interested in looking for a low VOC value, since this represents the amount of solvent that is evaporated into the air. The higher the number, the more VOC pollution we experience.

Best wishes,

Ron Joseph
